WOPC Newsletter November 2023

We hope everyone is keeping healthy and well. It brings us so much joy to come to school every day
where there are loving children and supportive parents all around! Our Hallowe’en Parade turned out to
be a huge success and that is thanks to our wonderful staff for arranging such special activities for the
children in their care. The Professional Learning Symposium that all of our staff attended was also a
huge success! Our staff were able to connect with hundreds of other Early Childhood professionals and gain
ideas and insights on how to become the best caregivers for children everywhere. We enjoyed a nice hot
lunch together as a team and even received free swag bags from The Halton Resource Connection!

We would like to thank all the parents who showed their appreciation to our staff on ECE
Appreciation Day. Your kind words of appreciation made our team feel supported and
acknowledged for all the hard work they do on a daily basis.

With the winter months ahead of us, and Christmas around the corner, we will be starting our
yearly fundraising initiative. This year we will be selling 8 ounce candles form “The Scented
Market”. These candles are unique in the fact that that they are all hand poured by a local
vendor using 100% soy wax. This means it will last for approximately 50 hours AND most
importantly, when lit, it will not release dangerous carcinogens into the air affecting the health
of you and your loved ones!

We will also be doing our yearly Purdy’s Chocolates fundraiser this year to provide you with
many options to choose from! Please see the flyers posted around the Centre to explore the
catalogue. Just click on the QR code and shop!

Last month we said farewell and good luck to Ms. Alisha, but the good news is that we will be
welcoming back Ms. Tahira from her maternity leave! We are very excited for her return on
Monday, November 6th, 2023! Ms. Tahira will be picking up where she left off in our Teddy
Room class alongside Ms. Ghousia. Ms. Maria will be joining Ms. Kim in the Panda Room as the
permanent RECE lead teacher! Ms. Maria has become very familiar with our Centre when she
dedicated her time to the Teddy Room class. We are very blessed to have such wonderful
caregivers in our Centre!

Our staff have been looking for creative ideas for the children to explore and also for use with
craft time. We are asking families to kindly think of us if you have any “beautiful junk” at your
house that you no longer need. This could be anything from empty yogurt containers, to nuts
and bolts, or buttons, etc. Your teachers can provide you with some more ideas for items if
needed.

As always, we would like to finish off by saying “Thank you” to all of our wonderful families for
your love and support throughout the years. It means so much to us that you trust us with the
care of your most precious beings! Please stay tuned for more information to come regarding
Christmas activities and events!

It is hard to believe that we are getting so close to December!!!The classrooms have been
planning some fun activities for the next couple of months and we will be hosting our yearly
Christmas Concert in December!!! You will be able to watch your children perform on stage in
the large banquet room downstairs at St. Volodymyr’s!! We are so excited for this event and we
hope everyone can join us for this festive occasion. Please stay tuned for more info coming
soon!

In other news, we would like to share the news with you that we have hired another Registered
Early Childhood Educator!! Her name is Ms. Barbara and she will be joining the Koala Room
team! Ms. Barbara comes to us as a Mohawk College graduate and has lots of experience with
the toddler age group. We are looking forward to having another experienced caregiver on our
team of staff. Ms. Junghee will continue to be on our supply team and we are so very thankful
for all of her help and support in the Koala Room over the past year.

We would like to express our thanks to all the families who purchased candles and chocolates
to help raise funds for our classrooms. The children will be so happy to receive many new items
and learning materials for their classrooms!

Thanks again to our wonderful families for all your support today and always.

Warmest regards,

Cathy Matsos and Amanda Feng
