Dear WOPC Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you in high spirits.
We are excited to share the highlights of the past months with you.
Staff Updates:
We want to welcome our new supervisor: Jueria Ahmed who started in April 22, 2025.
We also want to welcome our summer grant staff:
- Martin Kononenko: He will be in charge of accounting and supporting Ms. Amanda in the office
- Grace Caton: She will be supporting in the Koala room as an ECA
- Carissa Barakat: She will be supporting in the Teddies room as an ECA
- Ella Morgan: She will be in supporting in the Panda room as an ECA
- Claire Lauer: She will be supporting in the Bear club as an ECA
We also have two Sheridan college students who will be completing their community engagement by doing their placements at West Oakville Preschool.
Harsimran Kaur is completing her third and final placement and will be in the Bears room mentored by Ms. Andrea (RECE). Navdeep Kaur will be completing her second placement and will be in the Pandas room mentored by Ms. Maria. They will be complete their placements in August.
Playroom update:
Ms. Cathy has joined the Koala group as lead educator with Ms. Huriya. Ms. Cathy brings a great amount of experience, and we are excited to see the changes the team will make together in the preschool room.
Ms. Jordana will take on the role of float to support the classrooms and centre.
Photo day will take place on May 27 and grad photos will take place on May 28, 2025.
The graduation ceremony for preschool graduates will take place on June 12, 2025, at 4:00pm located at the gazebo outside the centre. All families and friends are welcome!
The centre also celebrated Mother’s Day this month as classes set up a Mother’s Day station with gifts and crafts created by the children!
Continued Renovations
The renovations of the playground will begin May 27, 2025, and will be completed within a week by Playground LTD. Our new playground will have a new rubber surface, new garden area and new play structure once completed.
